Lacework Named a 2018 Gartner Cool Vendor in Cloud Security and Recognized in Market Guide for CWPP

Only halfway through, and 2018 has already been an exciting year for Lacework. We have not only been listed in the 2018 Gartner Market Guide report for Cloud Workload Protection Platform (CWPP) but have also been named a Gartner Cool Vendor for Cloud Security1.

Being included in these is an incredible milestone for our team and customers, given that we launched the company only a year ago in April 2017.

According to the report, “The sheer size and complexity of cloud computing deployments, and the speed of workload deployment is forcing the security team into experimentations with new forms of automation.” We are confident this comment highlights our ability to deliver a highly automated security solution to customers with large footprints in AWS (thousands of hosts, across numerous accounts, covering development, test and production environments).

Lacework’s vision has always been to deliver a better, more effective approach to cloud security by bringing in automation wherever it makes sense. We strongly believe that human expertise and machine power need to come together to make security work in cloud deployments, given the scale and speed at which IT and DevOps operate in the cloud. Automation and machine learning are game-changers for the security industry, allowing understaffed security teams to finally keep up with the rapid pace at which businesses push new applications to the cloud.

Here at Lacework, being named a Cool Vendor by Gartner reinforces the team’s commitment to tackle the cloud security challenges with new ideas:

  1. The team is committed to innovation: It took an incredible leap of faith for the funding team to build from the ground-up a security platform dedicated to cloud environments given how crowded the security market is. But this is exactly what the industry needs, new thinking and new approaches pulled together by a talented team with diverse backgrounds that cut across security, AI, data management and more.
  2. The team is focused on quality: Security can’t be half done. You either secure someone’s environment and assets, or you don’t. The team innovates at a rapid pace; yet, every two weeks, they consistently deliver new features that simply work and are seamlessly deployed to customers.
  3. It’s all about speed and automation: Where most organizations rely on manual intervention and human control, the Lacework model is relentlessly focused on eliminating the repetitive tasks that burden security. After all, we have to keep our own environment secure as well and face firsthand the challenge we’re committed to solving.
